I really can’t believe I am finally actually launching this site! It has been on my mind and a dream of mine for a long time now. I have always loved and followed fashion/home blogging, but when I had kids I relied on those sites for any shopping I had to do. It was just too hard to try and shop with kiddos and it was difficult to find time to just go shopping. I fell in love with the concept of seeing what things looked like on real people, not just models, and getting it shipped right to my front door. It gave me more time to do other things I love, like spending time with my family.
I wanted to launch this site with this post because it’s about family. That is what is most important to me. Clothes, fashion, home decor, all that is fun and I’m very much looking forward to blogging all about it but my family is my heart and soul. They are what drives me. I love you Ben, Ty, and Tessa.
HOW IT STARTED
I purchased the site http://www.theeasternpine.com before Christmas 2017 after a long chat I had with my husband over a tex-mex dinner (my fav) on a last minute date night. I pitched him the idea and why in the world I wanted to start something new at the busiest time (by far) of our lives. I felt that if it was still on my mind after years of thinking about it, then I should just go for it. I should mention, Ben is the calmest, “guyish,” would rather be watching the Astros than taking pictures, type of guy, but he will show up whenever and wherever I ask him to for videos, pics, and he doesn’t complain…as long as he gets fed. In all seriousness, I am so blessed to have such a supportive husband and I feel I need to mention that because, without him, this wouldn’t be possible. He truly is the greatest fan of my life.
I let months go by before I purchased the website, and then I talked myself out of it. Then I talked myself back in, then out, well you get the picture. Finally, I just designed the site, and here we are!
WHAT TO EXPECT
I want my blog to have a variety of pieces, so you will see some bargain items, as well as some investment pieces on here. At the end of every post, you will see a description of the clothes from the post along with a blue “here.” Simply click on the “here” for any item you like and you will be directly taken to a website to view or purchase that item. On the sidebar you will see a “What I’m Craving” menu with picture of items I like at the moment. You can click to shop those too. My goal is to do 3 posts a week, including either fashion or home.
HOME CONSTRUCTION AND DECOR
We are currently in the midst of purchasing land where we’ll build our home and I will document the whole process on here! I will also link fun things like decor, furniture, light fixtures etc. We are hoping to break ground this summer!
VIDEO
I have been a photographer for about 7 years. My website is here but my love for video started when my son, Ty, was born. I wanted to capture more than just photos of his first few days so I started with his video and then added on when birthdays came around. You can see those videos here! The video featured on this post is for Tessa. I have made Ty 3 videos already for Ty and poor Tessa only had 1 (second child.) I didn’t get to do it for her birthday this year either so I wanted to make something special for her when the spring came. I put “An Ode to Motherhood” in the title because that is what, I feel, it is. As mom’s we love our precious children and feel so blessed to call them our own. Motherhood is hard and isn’t always fields of flowers and sunsets, but those euphoric moments we feel sporatically throughout these busy days inspired me to make the video. Not everyone has access to video equipment, drones, and a husband that will go out to the middle of nowhere 3 times (yes 3) so you can capture your child in this way. So I hope you will think of your love for your children as you watch Tessa’s video, as this is for every mom. An ode to those sweet moments when we just know God made them just for us to get to love in all the stages of life. It felt fitting to share it close to Mother’s Day.
As far as a videography business goes, I’m on the fence as it takes a lot to make one of these. Please send me an email if you are interested in hiring me to do something similar for your family.
THE EASTERN PINE
I am from a smaller town in East Texas called Longview and everything was named after a pine tree as there are pines everywhere there. Though we will likely always be in the Houston (Go Astros!) area, my roots will forever lie in a small town in East Texas.
I hope you find something you like on here! I will post my first fashion post tomorrow! Thank you for taking the time to read this and check out my new site, The Eastern Pine!
Great post! I know I’m going to love what you share!
